Decoding Gandhi (Partially)

The actual set-up for recording Gandhi Katha

Gandhi’s experiences were shared by Mr.  Narayan Desai,
I attended the same without knowing ‘WHY?’
Was it the quest to know his character well?
Or was it a hunger to grasp the essence of something worth to tell?

‘Why Gandhi’ remains a question for me,
Is it because of his Leadership skills or his popularity is the key?

He appear to have strived to win hearts of the people,
But was the agenda to become a “Mahatma” of uncountable disciple(s)?

He was intellectual, he walked fast,
He maintained his public life to long last.
He went to an extent of saving the life of people during partition homicide,
But, called the trials of brave patriots: a self-dug pit of suicide.

He elevated the untouchables,
And appear to have work for their cause,
But was it his style of making a new society,
A new category that came for his applause!

He preached non-violence throughout his life,
But can he be justified for not saving a Revolutionary’s life?

Initially his ideas were amicably proposed,
Which over a period of time he imposed,
‘Fasting’: the best trick to blackmail,
‘The brahmastra’ that never fail(ed).

He did blend fearlessness with non-violence,
As an innovative way of promoting his wide presence;
The concept evolved to rescue people in partition pain,
But was it more of Gandhi’s than peoples’ gain?

He failed to give ‘The Freedom Fight’ a finishing touch,
The state where expectations of people were very much;
His competence of eloquence & truthfulness gave way,
Raising an unanswered question:
“Was he sidetracked from his own play?”
